Passion Project: Keanu Reeves

So… who doesn’t love Keanu, amirite?
I’ve been obsessed with him since the dinosaur era, but today, I’m not writing about how gorgeous, or how humble he is.
Today, I’m here to brag about his PASSION! 🔥
Keanu Reeves truly is a legend, & I love how he immerses himself into each role with such intensity. In 2023, I played Cyberpunk 2077 (the base game, not yet the new DLC) & captured hundreds of in-game shots with him as Johnny Silverhand. His passion really shines through, not just in his acting but in the way he connects with his fans.
Then, I watched John Wick 4, but I just couldn’t get enough of him. He’s always so passionate about his roles in the acting world, so it’s impossible not to appreciate how he pours his heart into every character he plays.
Recently, he also made a heartwarming tribute to his dear friend & co-star, Lance Reddick, at the Saturn Awards. This is just another example of how his kindness & respect for those he works with, adding to the positive aura he radiates on-screen.
Later on, the online world ‘intentionally’ led me to the Dogstar band. I’d known about them years ago, but recently, my curiosity got the best of me. I listened to their new album, & their tracks still gave me that underground, nostalgic vibe. Really transported me back to the good ol’ times—I missed that.
His great passion really fascinates me. I’ve always admired & been drawn to people who have dreams & love what they do.
I also stumbled upon this amazing interview with Fender, & unexpectedly, it became a major turning point for me when Keanu specifically said:
“Don’t Quit Your Daydream.”
That sentence struck me to my core. I literally put everything down & stared blankly at the wall for a few minutes. It made me think. He said those words so effortlessly, giggled, & kept going on & on enthusiastically talking about his love for bass guitars. It’s beautiful—watch it below:
That’s not all. When I said I’m gonna brag, I am gonna brag. You probably noticed from the video that Keanu also loves riding bikes, which reminded me of the coolest photo I saw on Hideo Kojima’s Instagram.
That post broke the internet that day. Gamers were speculating that Keanu might appear in Death Stranding, just like how Kojima made a cameo in Cyberpunk. But those photos were actually for the shooting of the Ride with Norman Reedus show.
I haven’t watched the show yet, but I did catch this snippet where Keanu & Norman were riding their bikes across the Utah desert, visiting a few places, & then just chilling by the roadside talking about life & passion.
I really enjoyed that simple exchange. It’s like how I’m hooked on Jesse & Céline, just leisurely walking & talking in the Before Trilogy. Oh man, I really, really love that trilogy & I truly adore that kind of human connection. (Go watch those movies if you haven’t already!)
Oh wait, have I finished bragging? Nope, not yet!
I guess paying for internet really feels worth it after seeing another headline on my feed—Keanu, together with China Miéville, will be releasing a new book: The Book of Elsewhere (edit 2025: it’s now released!). At some point, I think I’m gonna dive into the BRZRKR comics too! Damn, color me excited!
Alright, I’m done bragging, but I just wanted to share something a bit personal.
As I’m writing this post, I’m actually going through some rough phases. Seeing other people so passionate about what they love really fills my heart. I admire Keanu & his passion projects, & because of that, this post exists. I just had to write about it.
I’ve been through a lot of hardships & honestly, I’m freaking exhausted. No sugarcoating, just being real. In this hard & cruel world, I just want to experience something simple, light, & hopeful.
Keanu just did that.
Despite everything happening in this crazy world, he’s still touring with the band, riding bikes, writing books & comics. He’s living his life doing what he loves, & what’s even more inspiring? He’s doing it all in his 60s!
Life can actually be simple & sweet...isn’t it?
